EmLAP maps wide-dynamic-range sensor data into a clear lower-dynamic-range image sequence with smooth and stable transitions, including between dramatically different scene dynamics and temperature extremes. Notice that in the typical image at left, the firefighter is almost invisible. More details are visible in the low mode at center. In the highly enhanced image at right, many more details are visible, including a building that can be seen through the open window.
Longwave-infrared focal-plane arrays enable a vast number of near-room-temperature thermal-imaging applications.
