Lucent Technologies buys switch company, opens plant

Lucent Technologies (Murray Hill, NJ) has bought LANNET (Tel Aviv, Israel) from Madge Networks NV (Wexham, Slough, England) for $117 million. LANNET makes Ethernet and asynchronous-transfer-mode switches for campus networks. The sale is expected to be complete by the end of September.
