Madison, WI--Alfalight, which develops leading-edge laser diodes as well as handheld IR and visible laser systems, has entered into a strategic investment and technology-development agreement with In-Q-Tel (IQT; Arlington, VA). An independent strategic investment firm, IQT supports missions of the U.S. intelligence community. The partnership will support Alfalight's development of man-portable military laser systems.

Alfalight's laser-diode development emphasizes high efficiency, high brightness, and wavelength stabilization; the lasers are well-suited for use in advanced electro-optical systems--such as those for the military.

William Strecker, executive vice president of architecture & engineering and CTO of IQT, emphasizes that IQT's investments in Alfalight will benefit both public and private sectors.
