Ditzingen, Germany - TRUMPF is making a clear commitment to its French location, as the company dedicated its expanded fabrication hall in Haguenau (Alsace), France on May 24, 2014. The new building, which is 135 m long and 48 m wide, expands the existing plant by adding about 6500 m2 of floor area.
At its new plant, the company manufactures the machine frames used for laser, punching, and punch-and-laser combination machines built in Europe. These frames are a central component in every machine tool and can mean having to weld assemblies as much as 10 m long. The frames will be assembled and welded on five production lines and at several fixed stations. Among the equipment that ensures a safe and agreeable working environment is a central exhaust unit that extracts and traps the vapors produced during welding. Cooling the intake air in the summer and efficient acoustic insulation also significantly improve the surroundings for the employees.
"Haguenau is a location with great expertise in precision welding for large component groups. Our manufacturing costs there are very competitive," explains Dr. Mathias Kammuller, executive VP of TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG and head of the Machine Tool Division. Thanks to investing in this new production building, the company will be able to produce even more efficiently in coming years and to satisfy rising demand.
