To verify the effectiveness of a distributed tuned mass damping system, 350 individual dampers distributed in frequency were applied to the corners and center region of an optical table. The masses of the dampers totaled 37 kg; no tuning was involved. In the commercial version, fewer dampers wil be used, and the dampers will be mounted inside the table structure. The rectangular objects are 55-lb masses used to load the table.
