Sciton, Michelson Diagnostics partner to develop OCT image-guided laser applications
Aesthetic/medical laser and light systems maker Sciton (Palo Alto, CA) has entered into a strategic partnership with Michelson Diagnostics (MDL; Maidstone, England), which has developed a point-of-care optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanning system, to offer new levels of personalized skin diagnosis and treatments.

MDL's VivoSight OCT system is able to peer into skin deeper than 1 mm with a resolution of <10 µm, explains Jon Holmes, CEO of MDL. Skin sub-layers, sub-structures, and morphology, as well as capillary blood flows, are accurately recognized for decision-making.
Dan Negus, president of Sciton, says that the VivoSight system will integrate with the company's Halo, Contour TRL, ProFractional, and BBL laser and light brands. The two companies will collaborate on introducing a new imaging capability to the market with unique vision into important structures within the skin.
