Medical imaging instrumentation maker Tornado Medical Systems (TMS; Toronto, ON, Canada) and Arjae Spectral Enterprises (ASE; Ithaca, NY) have merged to become Tornado Spectral Systems.
With the merge, the two companies will provide optical spectroscopy products for the biomedical market as well as the defense and security, environmental, and industrial markets. As conventional optical dispersive spectroscopy has been limited by choosing between light throughput and spectral resolution, a proprietary High Throughput Virtual Slit (HTVS) technology overcomes this limitation by delivering high resolution and high throughput simultaneously.
Tornado is also developing optical coherence tomography (OCT) on-chip technology.
