Coherent acquires Adlas

According to an announcement made at Laser 95 (Munich, Germany, June 19-23), Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) will acquire Adlas GmbH and Co. (Lubeck, Germany) for undisclosed terms. "It`s a strategic move for both companies and insures a leading market position in diode-pumped solid-state lasers," commented Gerhard Marcinkowski, president of Adlas US.

According to an announcement made at Laser 95 (Munich, Germany, June 19-23), Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) will acquire Adlas GmbH and Co. (Lubeck, Germany) for undisclosed terms. "It`s a strategic move for both companies and insures a leading market position in diode-pumped solid-state lasers," commented Gerhard Marcinkowski, president of Adlas US.

Peter Kortz, an Adlas founder who will continue as managing director, said, "There will be two operational units, one in Santa Clara and one in Lubeck." According to Kortz, Adlas revenues are projected to be about DM11 million ($8.4 million) this year.
