Polarization-stable multimode VCSEL generates 8 mW optical power

Feb. 16, 2023
A 940 nm polarization-stable multimode VCSEL with controllable polarization has two emission zones.

A 940 nm polarization-stable multimode vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) with controllable polarization has two emission zones, and generates 8 mW optical power and slope efficiency of 1 W/A. Its proprietary surface grating is directly etched into the gallium arsenide (GaAs). Applications include consumer electronic devices and smartphones.
