The Alsdorf (Germany) based 4JET GmbH-–a supplier of laser systems for processing thin-film solar panels-–has been awarded the national "GruenderChampions 2009" award.

During a ceremony in Berlin's federal ministry of economics, 4JET received the award in the category "technical innovations" for its range of laser process solutions that are used in the thin-film photovoltaics industry.

4JET had been selected from a group of over 200 companies to win the state award before now winning the national final. The KfW entrepreneur award "GruenderChampions" was awarded for the third time.

4JET develops and manufactures laser systems for treatment of technical surfaces. Since its foundation at the beginning of 2006 the company has quickly grown to become a leading supplier of laser systems for edge deletion. The company also supplies laser equipment for other industrial surface treatment applications and manufactures pulsed CO2 lasers for surface cleaning. Since 2007 4JET is cooperating with Mitsubishi International GmbH, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation (Tokyo) for international distribution of its products.

In its new Alsdorf facility a team of physicists and engineers develops laser process technology as well as turnkey manufacturing equipment for industrial use.
