Champlin, Minn. – Laser Specialists Inc., Fraser, Mich, recently took delivery of the first Rapido Laser System produced in Prima Powers' Champlin facility. This event is important both to Laser Specialists and Prima Power Laserdyne.

For Laser Specialists, the addition of the Prima Rapido to its laser manufacturing capabilities greatly broadens its contract manufacturing operations.

"As a Rapido-equipped contract manufacturer in the Michigan area, Laser Specialists will have an important competitive advantage," reports Nick Pacquin, president. "We now have a system that will cut and trim a typical automotive B-pillar body panel in less than 50 seconds as well as similar very large metal components for our aerospace, appliance, and electronics customers. With the system's high acceleration and rapid traverse speed, we can produce high quality cut edges that are free from oxide and are weld and paint ready. No costly added operations are needed for preparation of the cut edges for welding, assembly, and painting of the panels."

For Prima Power, the assembly of this Rapido system in Champlin continues the expansion of manufacturing, training, and service at this location, which is also the headquarters for multi-axis (3D) laser systems. With both product lines now being produced here, the site is the primary location from which manufacturing, sales, service, and other business activities are delivered for all Prima 3D systems in Canada, Mexico, and the US.
