Laserflex expands, creates new jobs in South Carolina

Sept. 25, 2013
The $4M expansion will increase manufacturing space and is expected to create 20 new jobs, including some for certified welders, machinists, and laser operators.

Columbia, SC - Laserflex, a precision metal fabricator using advanced technology to provide metal fabricated assemblies for customers' industrial laser cutting, forming, welding, laser tube cutting, machining, and finishing needs, will expand its existing operations in Spartanburg County. The $4 million investment is expected to generate 20 new jobs.

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Laserflex will expand its South Carolina operations by moving to a new, 63,000-sq.-ft. building in Wellford, which will increase the company's manufacturing space by 23,000 sq. ft. The expansion will allow Laserflex to add a range of new operations, including machining, paint, and laser tube cutting.

Laserflex expects to have the move to the new facility completed by the end of this month and is planning an open house on October 11 from 11 am to 2 pm at the new facility, located at 230 New Hope Road in Wellford. Plant tours and equipment demonstrations will be available.

"We're pleased with the opportunity to expand our South Carolina operations," said Gene White, VP and GM of Laserflex. "Laserflex has seen increasing demand from our customers, and this expansion will help us meet that demand. Spartanburg has provided us with an excellent business environment over the years. We appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials."

The company will begin hiring certified welders, machinists, and laser operators starting in the 4Q13. Those interested in job opportunities with the company should send their resumes to [email protected].
