Linear encoders
The RG2 linear encoder systems provides resolutions from 5 to 0.5 µm, depending on read head. The scale is made of cut-to-length self-adhesive gold-plated tape that matches substrate expansion or contraction. The noncontact design that measures IR backscatter allows speeds u¥to 3 m/s. The signal from the read heads can be either in current or voltage analog form or digital quadrature outputs from four photodiodes.
