PRESS RELEASE

Precision Pulsed Laser Driver for Absorption Spectroscopy Using Quantum Cascade Lasers

BOZEMAN, Montana, August 2010 – ILX Lightwave Corporation announces the addition of the LDP-3832 Pulsed Quantum Cascade Laser Driver to our expanding portfolio of products for quantum cascade laser control. The LDP-3832 is designed specifically for quantum cascade lasers used in absorption spectroscopy applications and provides peak current up to 5A with a compliance voltage of up to 20V and adjustable pulse widths from 10ns to 1µs. The LDP-3832 also includes a precision 500mA DC current source with a modulation bandwidth greater than 10 kHz for biasing the laser. Careful attention to the design ensures highly repeatable pulse to pulse amplitude and pulse width control with fast rise times while maintaining overshoot of less than 5%. Laser protection features include redundant hardware and firmware current limits, transient protection, floating outputs, and safety interlocks. Integrated current and voltage monitors allow precise pulse waveform monitoring.

For easy system integration, input and output trigger functions can be used to control current pulses and initiate external measurements without the need for programming. IEEE/GPIB 488.2 and USB computer interfaces allow easy remote programming and control in automated test systems where repeatable and accurate test sequencing, measurements, and data handling are required. LabView® drivers are available from the ILX website.
