3S Photonics announces results for 2010 fiscal year

Nozay, France--Optical commuincations components maker 3S Photonics, reported revenue growth of 10%  for its FY10 fiscal ended ended June 2010. Revenue grew from €32.6 million ($43.5 million) to €36 million ($48 million). Operating profits jumped from €0.11 million ($0.15 million)in 2009 to €1.98 million ($2.64) in 2010.

Revenue grew from €32.6 million ($43.5 million) to €36 million ($48 million). Operating profits jumped from €0.11 million ($0.15 million)in 2009 to €1.98 million ($2.64) in 2010.

Among the optical communications markets served by the company, the terrestrial and submarine long distance transmission segment exhibited strong growth resulting from increasing global Internet traffic. The company claims an 80% share of the submarine pump market, and 7% of the terrestrial pump business so it benefitted benefited from the favorable market conditions. As a result, the company completed its 2010 fiscal year with a 9% growth of its turnover in France compared to 2009, reaching €25.22 million ($33.62 million).

“Our 2010 fiscal year was particularly marked by the acquisition of Avensys Inc. This alliance resulted in the creation of the 3S Photonics Group," noted Alexandre Krivine, President and CEO of 3S Photonics Group. " We already achieved synergies between both companies in terms of product development and the strategic locating of our Canadian subsidiary in North America is an important building block for our international expansion.”

About next year, he stated “The coming year also promises to be successful. We anticipate a growth in turnover of 10% and a US$ 70 million revenue for our consolidated group. Next year, we will also concentrate on our expansion policy and strategic partnerships in order to strengthen our international position.”
