Waterloo, ON, Canada--Multispectral imaging specialist Teledyne DALSA and Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) have formed a partnership to develop a new multispectral sensor for an advanced Earth observation application. This multimillion-dollar development project is expected to begin delivering high-resolution images during 2014.

This Earth observation application will use the DMC3 satellite constellation and demand higher resolution commercial Earth imaging than any past project. The multispectral sensors developed by Teledyne DALSA will allow SSTL's subsidiary company and client, DMC International Imaging, to acquire higher resolution data for applications such as urban planning and environment and disaster monitoring.

Teledyne DALSA's multispectral imaging solutions can achieve multispectral sensitivity in a single miniaturized package—one device can contain multiple imaging areas tailored to different multispectral bandwidths.
