PRESS RELEASE

Adimec announces new ultra high-resolution camera series

No longer a trade-off: Ultra high-resolution combined with high-speed cameras now available

EINDHOVEN, the Netherlands – Adimec (www.adimec.com), a world leader in application-specific, leading-edge industrial camera solutions, announces the first member of the new CMOS-based SAPPHIRE series, S-25A30.

The S-25A30 camera is based on the VITA 25k image sensor. Adimec developed the new Sapphire-series camera platform especially for OEMs of metrology and inspection equipment who require ultra high-resolution images at high speeds. Using proprietary camera design, the S-25A30 has finally made it possible to effectively use CMOS sensor technology in electronic manufacturing systems, like PCB inspection and flat panel inspection, by producing CCD-like images.

The S-25A30 is a 25 megapixel CMOS global shutter camera and delivers images of 5120 x 5120 pixels at 32 frames per second (fps). Using the Region Of Interest (ROI) function the frame rate can be increased, for example 100 fps at 8 Megapixels. It is equipped with a Camera Link full and deca interface.

The SAPPHIRE series contains a defect pixel correction algorithm especially designed for large area scan image sensors. This algorithm maintains high image uniformity even with a high number of defect pixels that are more common in these kinds of sensors. The S-25A30 is designed to be stable 24/7 and delivers reliable and predictable high quality images required for inline inspection equipments.

The SAPPHIRE series has low power consumption of 6.5W. Together with an effective thermal design we could keep this series very compact. Therefore the S-25A30 is easy to integrate without unwanted noise caused by heat.

This and other included developments to the SAPPHIRE series are:
• 25 Megapixels at 32 frames per second
• Camera Link
• Compact form factor
• Low power dissipation
• 8 Megapixels at 100 frames per second (or other options) through ROI
• Supporting custom image processing

The combination of Adimec image quality, compact form factor and low power usage makes the camera ideal for inspection systems that require high resolution to increase throughput or accuracy.
