OSEM to build telescopes for infrared sky survey

    The University of Massachusetts (Amherst, MA) has awarded OSEM Inc. (Tucson, AZ) a $1.27 million contract to provide telescopes for the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) Project. Astronomers plan to ma¥the sky at wavelengths between 1.1 and 2.3 µm, using a pair of 1.3-m telescopes. One instrument will be located in Chile, the other just outside of Tucson, and both will be operated under computer control.
