St-Laurent, Quebec, Can., February 19, 2004. LxSix Photonics, a privately held designer of new photonic processes and manufacturing technologies for advanced optical components, has received ISO 9001:2000 Quality System Certificate of registration from SGS International Certification Services Canada Inc. The registration audits were conducted December 9 and 11, 2003.
The ISO 9001:2000 management system will be complemented with six-sigma quality program to fully focus LxSix on customer expectations. Six-Sigma is a "Continual Improvement Process" that fits very comfortably with ISO, as it seeks ways to constantly improve processes and eliminate defects throughout an organization.
"Achieving the ISO 9001:2000 Certification demonstrates our continued commitment to increasing customer satisfaction and improving our quality systems," states Jacques Légaré, President and CEO of LxSix. "This certification sends out a positive signal to our customers and attests of the level of maturity to work with large organizations. The Six-Sigma program will be the means to achieve the goals of ISO 9001:2000 quality system in a dramatic fashion and drive the company to new levels of excellence."
The ISO 9001:2000 is a revision to the ISO 9000 standard that was published December 15th, 2000. The major reasons for the year 2000 revisions of the standards include emphasizing the need to monitor customer satisfaction, meeting the need for more user-friendly documents, assuring consistency between quality management system requirements and guidelines, and promoting the use of generic quality management principles by organizations.
