Shin-Etsu intros silicone LIMS material for high-brightness LED molding

July 22, 2016
The KE-2062-70 silicone liquid injection-molding system (LIMS) material has utility in molding high-brightness LED optical lenses.

The KE-2062-70 silicone liquid injection-molding system (LIMS) material has utility in molding high-brightness LED optical lenses, as the material can withstand LEDs' ever-increasing operating temperatures beyond the capability of typical thermoplastics like acrylic and polycarbonate. The inherent elasticity of silicone allows for geometries with undercuts to be molded, and its lower viscosity enables silicone to precisely fill and replicate intricate mold surfaces to improve optical efficiency.
