April 25, 2007, Berlin Germany--Lumics has announced a high power pump diode laser source with 1 kW of optical output power. The device is based on multiple single emitter laser diode modules. The 19" rack mount unit is offered with a watercooling system and driver electronics. The output power is delivered from optical fibers and can be customized into fiber bundles or pump combiners.

The pump laser source is available at 915 nm, 940 nm, 960 nm and 975 nm wavelengths. The system uses hermetically sealed fiber coupled single emitter diodes to operate over a wide ambient temperature range. The staineless steel watercooling unit does not require any special water. The dimension are specified as 4U in a 19" rack mount with depth of 450 mm. The input voltage is specified with 110V / 220V AC. The diode lifetime is specified with up to 400,000 h mean time to failure. The laser is designed for industrial laser applications as a pump source or a direct diode application in material processing.
