Diode connector

Dec. 1, 1996
The Flexpoint optical assembly for connecting fiber to a diode laser without a physical connection is about 70% efficient. The assembly includes a 200-µm low-loss HCS fiber as well as an F-SMA connector. Typical wavelengths for these modules are in the range from 635 to 830 nm, with output powers as large as 20 mW. The device can be used in applications in which standard laser-beam delivery is not possible, such as inside vacuum systems or in medical application.
