A patented short-period superlattice (SPSL) approach for UV-C LED manufacturing creates a nanostructure, alternating up to several hundred layers of aluminum nitride (AlN) and gallium nitride (GaN).

A patented short period superlattice (SPSL) approach for UV-C LED manufacturing creates a nanostructure, alternating up to several hundred layers of aluminum nitride (AlN) and gallium nitride (GaN), which can be tuned by adjusting the thickness of the constituent layers. LEDs covering the 235 and 255 nm range are in production. Applications include water quality monitoring, liquid chromatography, and disinfection.
