Fellows

A Fellow of the LIA is an individual who is widely recognized for exceptional professional contributions to both the laser community and the LIA. We are currently accepting nominations for Fellows until June 28. You can download the Fellow nomination form at https://assets.lia.org/s3fs-public/pdf/FellowsNominationForm_0.pdf. The Arthur L. Schawlow Award

The LIA first presented the Schawlow Award in 1982 to recognize individuals who have made distinguished contributions to applications of lasers in science, industry, education and medicine. Nominations are accepted until June 28 and you can download the form at https://assets.lia.org/s3fs-public/pdf/SchawlowNominationForm_0.pdf. (Awarded at ICALEO)

The George M. Wilkening Award

The recipient of the George M. Wilkening Award in Laser Safety is an individual who has made outstanding contributions to laser bioeffects research, development of human exposure limits and safety standards, and to applied laser safety. The recipient does not have to be a member of LIA, but sustained service to LIA can be one of the additional contributions considered. Nominations will be accepted until May 15, 2020 and you can download the form at https://assets.lia.org/s3fs-public/pdf/GeorgeMWilkeningNominationForm_0.pdf. (Awarded at ILSC)

The R. James Rockwell, Jr. Educational Achievement Award

The recipient of the R. James Rockwell, Jr. Educational Achievement Award is an individual, organization, group, or institution of higher education that has made outstanding contributions to laser safety education. The recipient does not have to be a member of LIA, but sustained service to LIA can be one of the additional contributions considered. Nominations will be accepted until May 15, 2020 and the form is at https://assets.lia.org/s3fs-public/pdf/RockwellNominationForm_0.pdf. (Awarded at ILSC)

Gail received her BS degree in physics, with an emphasis in optics, from San Diego State University in San Diego, CA in May 1986.
