Bouckley was the 2017 SME president, has served on the SME Board of Directors since 2012, and has been a member of SME since 2004. Outside of SME, she has been vice president of manufacturing systems, supply chain management, and lean at GKN Driveline Americas (Auburn Hills, MI); vice president of operations for the Electrical Systems and Services Business for the Electrical Sector of Eaton (Moon Township, PA), and global director of operations at Tyco Electrical and Metal Products (Harvey, IL; a division of Tyco International), where she led 20 plants and the manufacturing engineering activities—as well as working at both Chrysler and General Motors. Bouckley’s knowledge of the manufacturing industry is extensive, and she has a long history with SME.

Kurfess says, "We have confidence in Sandi’s leadership, and that SME will keep moving forward during this transition with no disruption to our members, partners, or customers. As I know you all know, the future is bright for SME. Sandi will begin her role at SME Monday, July 23."
