Symposium on laser machining of carbon fiber reinforced polymers
On September 3rd, 2009, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) is hosting a symposium on laser machining of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP).
This symposium's goal is to show how modern lasers can be used for the material processing of CFRP. Laser machining is non-contact, force and abrasion-free, and can be used for cutting, joining, cleaning, or 3-D material removal. In comparison to conventional processing methods for CFRP, laser machining has many advantages, which will be presented and discussed at the event.
The symposium offers a platform for new concepts and techniques within the fields of production and application of fiber-reinforced plastics, and aims at an audience from the aerospace, automobile, and ship-building industries as well as the wind energy sector.
