Subcon Laser Cutting (Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England) has opened up a wealth of international opportunities by investing £1 million (over $1.2 million) in new fiber laser cutting technology.

The company has purchased the UK's first 8kW fiber laser cutting system from TRUMPF, allowing it to cut fine detail into thick material with the ability to be controlled remotely. This investment has resulted in new orders coming in from India, with further enquiries coming in from Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy.

(L-R) Jonathan Browning, chairman of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CWLEP); Annette Doyle, TRUMPF UK's managing director; Louise Bennett, CEO of the Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce; and Tom Mongan, Subcon's general manager.

Subcon, which employs 30 staff members, is now looking at further investment to boost its position in the industry, as the company can now produce components it couldn't have attempted to make in the past, according to general manager Tom Mongan.
