Rockford, IL—Gerald M. Shankel has been named the new president and CEO of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International (FMA). Shankel's career has been mostly with associations in the manufacturing sector.

His assessment that associations need to determine what their members want and then to deliver programs to meet these needs has led him to initiate a long-range (5–10 year) plan for the FMA. He says, "Most important, the plan will ensure that industry members and FMA staff are striving for the same goals."

As president Shankel will oversee the educational and membership divisions of the FMA.
