The Laser Institute of America (LIA; Orlando, FL), a professional society for lasers, laser applications, and laser safety, is set to host two events taking place at the Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL, right near Chicago.
The Laser Additive Manufacturing (LAM) conference (March 27-28, 2018) will feature presentations on where and how to apply additive manufacturing concepts, with a distinct focus on laser technology. Several trending topics will be covered this year, notably additive manufacturing applications, selective laser melting, laser metal deposition, design for additive manufacturing, process monitoring, metal feedstock, and 3D software tools.
The Lasers for Manufacturing Event (LME; March 28-29) offers an interactive exhibit featuring laser-specific solutions brought to attendees by field experts, who will be available to answer questions. The experts can share up-to-date insights as well as provide demonstrations for both individuals and companies who may be new to laser technology, or are interested in new equipment for their manufacturing needs. Participants can opt to attend a complimentary education track offered as part of the exhibit. This year's focus will include 3D printing, additive manufacturing, cutting, drilling, marking, and welding. Attendees will also be invited on an exclusive tour of the Trumpf Smart Factory in Hoffman Estates, IL, which is just a short distance from the convention center.
LME will also feature an "Ask the Experts" booth (#101) located to the left of the main entrance of the exhibit floor. There, various industry experts will offer attendees proven suggestions to increase laser manufacturing business efficiency and profitability, according to Neil Ball, president of Directed Light and organizer of the "Ask the Experts" networking opportunity.
