Farmington, CT--Trumpf has named Dr. Christof Lehner as general manager of the company's Laser Technology Center (Plymouth, MI), which specializes in high-power CO2 lasers, pulsed and continuous-wave (cw) solid-state lasers, and laser systems. In his role, Lehner will manage laser division sales, service, and support in North America, and report to Rolf Biekert, president and CEO.

Lehner joined Trumpf Laser GmbH + Co. KG (Schramberg, Germany) in 2002, where he served as a product manager for pulsed lasers, after completing his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Technische Universität München (Munich, Germany). In 2003, he was promoted to head of sales for low-power lasers and later to head of sales, solid-state lasers. Then, he transferred to the company's headquarters in Ditzingen, Germany, where he most recently served as director of international sales, Western Europe. There, he provided technical sales support and strategic guidance of the laser divisions in Western Europe.

The company is working towards a goal of strengthening its position in the North American laser market, with ongoing plans to significantly increase staff, application lab equipment, and capabilities, states Lehner. With continual development of laser products and systems from the company's manufacturing centers, the Laser Technology Center should help to achieve that goal, he says.
