The MCL-NSOM near-field scanning optical microscope (NSOM) from Mad City Labs (Madison WI) is an aperture NSOM built on the company's RM21 inverted optical microscope, which allows conversion to aperture-less NSOM, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and fluorescence microscopy. Six axes of automated positioning are provided, including independent automation for fiber alignment to the optical axis, and are controlled with LabVIEW-based software. Standard features include a fiber launch with excitation source, alignment camera, and detection avalanche photodiode (APD), but the microscope can also accommodate ancillary excitation and detection optics.
