OFS to show coated optical fibers at SPIE BiOS and Photonics West 2018

Jan. 12, 2018
PYROCOAT K coated optical fibers feature a thin, hard polymer coating that can withstand high temperatures for long periods.

PYROCOAT K coated optical fibers feature a thin, hard polymer coating that resists chemicals, has a small cross-section, and can withstand high temperatures for long periods. They can withstand, for example, continuous lifetime temperatures of 275°C for up to 80 years, 300°C for up to 13 years, and 325°C for up to 2.2 years, and can also withstand short-term (24 hours) excursions as high as 450°C. The fibers have utility in harsh temperature sensing and communications environments.
