Southbridge, MA--Fused fiber-optic components maker Incom has acquired Vancouver, WA-based Paradigm Optics, a polymer fiber-optic devices manufacturer. The acquisition includes all intellectual property related to the manufacture and sale of polymer structures, as well as all physical assets and capital equipment.

Paradigm Optics president and CEO David Welker will remain as director of polymer products, continuing to oversee all activities at the Washington office and reporting in to Michael Detarando, Incom president and CEO.

Paradigm’s polymer fiber-optic technology will allow Incom to further service the needs of the homeland security marketplace with biometric identity solutions, specifically in the area of ultrasonic fingerprinting, says Anthony M. Detarando, Incom's chairman. The acquisition also allows them to service the display industry with polymer-based image guides and transfer devices that enable seamless and dynamic digital displays with tactile feedback, he says.
