Corning Inc. (Corning, NY) has filed suit against FiberCore Inc. (Charlton, MA), alleging patent infringement. Corning claims that FiberCore has been using Corning`s US Pat. #4,339,173 to manufacture optical fiber and then sell that fiber in the USA and is seeking an injunction and unspecified damages.

Corning claims that FiberCore has been using Corning`s US Pat. #4,339,173 ("Optical waveguide containing P2O5 and GeO2") to manufacture optical fiber and then sell that fiber in the USA and is seeking an injunction and unspecified damages. FiberCore has denied violating any Corning patent. . . . Coors Ceramics Company (Grand Junction, CO) has completed a 107,000-sq ft addition to its existing manufacturing operations to meet demand for fiberoptic components and other products. . . . Intelect Network Technologies, a subsidiary of Intelect Communications Inc. (Richardson, TX), has signed a distribution agreement with World Access Inc. (Atlanta, GA) to resell its Sonetlynx fiberoptic multiplexer. . . . Metromedia Fiber Network Inc. (New York, NY) will provide an intracity fiberoptic network in the downtown Chicago-loop area as a result of its infrastructure acquisition from Unicom Thermal Technologies Inc. (Chicago, IL).
