Prior Scientific Launches PureFocus690: Advanced Hardware Laser Autofocus for Raman and Infrared Microscopy

Prior Scientific, a global leader in precision optical instrumentation, has enhanced its advanced hardware autofocus range with the addition of the PureFocus690, designed for Raman and infrared microscopy applications.

The PureFocus690 offers rapid automated focus recovery, sample detection, dynamic power adjustment, and long focus recapture range for applications in industry, life science, and materials science.

Combining cutting-edge optics with intelligent microprocessing, the PureFocus690 uses a 690 nm laser diode to deliver a real-time focus system for infinity-corrected optical systems. The system transmits wavelengths up to 1100 nm, including all major Raman microscopy excitation wavelengths, making it ideal for both research and industrial environments.

It features a motorized offset lens for imaging depth adjustments into the sample, continuously holding the precise distance between the imaging focal point and a reference interface of choice or enabling different discrete image planes to be acquired using the same interface. It also ensures that the image detector and the autofocus sensor are parfocal, allowing seamless switching between objectives.  

With a rapid focus recovery, compatibility with piezo and other actuators, and a host of dynamic signal correction and sample protection features, the system offers robust performance even on structured sample surfaces or in high-throughput imaging environments.

Designed for versatility and mounted in the infinity space, the PureFocus690 integrates seamlessly with infinity-corrected optical systems, supporting both upright and inverted microscopes. It is compatible with most brands of commercial microscopes, Prior’s OpenStand imaging platform, Queensgate piezo devices, and can be adapted for third-party focus actuators.
