More Info on RESOLUTION Spectra Systems

RESOLUTION Spectra Systems offers high resolution laser spectrum analyzers and wavelength meters in the VIS-NIR range (630-1100 nm). Those are ideal tools for characterizing pulsed and CW lasers and for sensing applications. Based on SWIFTSTM technology, these innovative instruments have unique features: compactness, high accuracy, speed and robust calibration.

The Zoom UHR laser spectrum analyzer has resolution up to 16 GHz, allowing spectra, wavelength, and linewidth measurement in real time.
FIGURE 1. The SWIFTS principle is compared with grating spectrometers and Michelson (Fourier-transform) spectrometers. (a) A Fourier-transform spectrometer is shown in a Michelson configuration. (b) A SWIFTS spectrometer is like a simplified Michelson interferometer in which the scanning mirror and the detector are replaced by the nanodetectors. (c) A grating spectrometer is an interferometric system that creates an optical path difference (OPD) equal to L x (sinα+sinβ) between the rays reaching the two sides of the grating. For a given grating width L, the resolving power of the grating is maximum for two angles that correspond to the SWIFTS configuration (incident and diffracted light are aligned).

Spectroscopy: High-resolution spectrometers shrink down with SWIFTS

SWIFTS is a new principle of spectroscopy that can be implemented in an integrated chip, delivering picometer resolution over a spectral range of several hundred nanometers.

Resolution Spectra Systems high-resolution spectrometer covers the visible to NIR range

The ZOOM Spectra spectrometer can be used over the entire 630–1070 nm range without hardware modifications.
A SWIFTS spectrometer characterizes an 852 nm DFB laser at its nominal operating temperature of 15º to 40ºC between 851.200 and 853.180 nm, showing its characteristic singlemode profile. Further analysis at a 100 Hz measurement rate at the out-of-recommended temperature range of 5º to 15ºC shows dual-mode behavior, while measurements at a higher rate of >1000 kHz show that neither mode exists at the same time, indicating mode-hopping behavior for the laser.

SPECTROMETERS: SWIFTS spectrometer technology miniaturizes and increases performance

In many spectrometer designs, there is often a tradeoff between miniaturization and high performance.
