Cut With A Piece of Diamond Wire
ZHENGZHOU, China — Vimfun Diamond Wire Saw has launched the SGRT-20, a multi-axis endless diamond wire saw that combines slicing, rotary indexing, and workpiece tilt in a single precision cutting system for hard and brittle materials — sapphire, SiC, germanium, silicon, quartz, advanced ceramics, and optical glass.
Most wire saws do one thing: straight slicing. Parts that need angled facets — prism blanks, beveled sapphire windows, crystals cut at specific orientations to the growth axis — typically move across multiple machines and fixturing setups, and every re-fixturing step adds alignment error and handling risk on materials that chip if you look at them wrong.
The SGRT-20 addresses this with two additional motion axes. A rotary axis indexes the workpiece to programmed angles between cuts, producing triangular, square, pentagonal, and other polygonal geometries. A tilt axis inclines the workpiece relative to the wire, enabling bevel cuts and compound-angle features. Combined, the two axes let a single setup handle geometry that would otherwise require a slicing saw plus secondary angle-grinding operations.
The cutting medium is Vimfun's closed-loop diamond wire, running unidirectionally at high linear speed with constant tension — no reversal marks, and cutting force low enough to keep edge chipping minimal on brittle crystals. Wire diameters from 0.35 mm match the part scale: fine wire for small optics and magnetic materials, heavier wire for larger ceramic sections. Machining tolerance is held at ±0.03 mm, with support for both oil-based and water-based coolants depending on material.
