Tunable ultrafast laser for multiphoton imaging by Spectra-Physics

July 10, 2014
The InSight DS+ tunable ultrafast laser system from Spectra-Physics, a Newport company, delivers ultrashort pulses over a 680–1300 nm tuning range from a single beam, while a second beam provides simultaneous, dual-wavelength output at 1041 nm for multimodal imaging.

The InSight DS+ tunable ultrafast laser system from Spectra-Physics, a Newport company (Santa Clara, CA), delivers ultrashort pulses over a 680–1300 nm tuning range from a single beam, while a second beam provides simultaneous, dual-wavelength output at 1041 nm for multimodal imaging. Applications includein vivo deep tissue imaging for neuroscience, cell biology, and other life science research. The laser offers enhanced power levels of greater than 1.2 W at 900 nm, greater than 1.0 W at 1000 nm, and greater than 0.7 W at 1200 nm; less than 120 fs pulse widths; highest peak power levels at infrared (IR) wavelengths; and integrated dispersion pre-compensation for imaging penetration depths beyond 1 mm, which has been demonstrated in live tissue.
