A 3D micropositioning unit by piezosystem jena (Jena, Germany) adapted for use in multiphoton imaging integrates into medical devices. The unit offers positioning accuracy of ±0.25 µm with a total motion range of 5 mm per axis for highly accurate control of components within a medical multiphoton endoscope, allowing imaging of wounds using micro-endoscopic techniques. An integrated optical encoder system provides precise data on basic cellular functions and local influencing factors.
