Oct. 10, 2018
Kinetic River, which develops flow cytometry solutions, is projecting 80% growth based just on booked income for 2018 so far.

Kinetic River (Mountain View, CA), which develops flow cytometry solutions, is projecting 80% year-over-year growth based just on booked income for 2018 year-to-date. What's more, the company's compound annual growth rate (CAGR) has gone from 17% (2012–2016), to 25% (2013–2017), to 50% projected for 2014–2018.

Kinetic River was founded in February 2010 and started commercial operations in July 2011, initially focusing on flow cytometry—custom instrumentation, technology development, and technical, strategic, and expert witness consulting. Since then, it has developed and launched its Danube fluorescence lifetime flow cytometer and Potomac modular flow cytometer.

The company has also been granted 6 U.S. patents, with several more pending both in the U.S. and internationally. In the last two years, it has received two SBIR grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH): one to help develop a compensation-free flow cytometry platform and another to explore label-free methods to distinguish cancer cells from normal cells.

The company's activities have also expanded to consulting in biophotonics and optics more broadly, with clients in semiconductor equipment and solar cell manufacturing, along with clients in flow cytometry, cell sorting, and clinical diagnostics.
