MAY 20, 2009--Klastech (Dortmund, Germany) has announced "the world's first" continuous wave (CW) diode pumped solid state (DPSS) laser that outputs at the significant 'ruby' wavelength of 694.3 nm. Called Crescendo, the product is expected to facilitate new work in biophysics and DNA sequencing. Klastech will demonstrate Crescendo during Laser World of Photonics (June 15-18, Munich, Germany); Elliot Scientific (Harpenden, England) is taking advance orders.
