Cynosure's two newest workstations for laser-assisted lipolysis and noninvasive cellulite reduction have received key international regulatory clearances. Health Canada has issued a Medical Device License for the company's SmoothShapes XV system, authorizing its sale in Canada. The noninvasive system treats cellulite through its proprietary Photomology process, which combines laser and light energy with vacuum and massage to produce tighter, smoother-looking skin.

The company's Smartlipo Triplex, a minimally invasive technology for fat removal and skin tightening, earned marketing approval from the Korean Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The system uses the company's patented MultiPlex technology to combine 1064, 1320 and 1440 nm wavelengths in one laser output, enabling multiple wavelengths to be fired sequentially and creating a blended thermal and photomechanical effect that liquefies fat and tightens skin through tissue coagulation.

SmoothShapes XV and Smartlipo Triplex have both received U.S. FDA clearance, and SmoothShapes XV is CE-marked for sale in the European Union.
