The C10000-601 and C10000-701 series time delay integration (TDI) cameras from Hamamatsu (Bridgewater, NJ) are useful in imaging applications requiring high speed, sensitivity, and resolution, including high-speed fluorescence imaging. The slim TDI cameras feature back-thinned CCD image sensors with 4096 horizontal pixels and 128 TDI stages (vertical pixels), with each pixel measuring 12 × 12 µm. High sensitivity from 200 to 1100 nm with approximately 90% quantum efficiency in the 600-700 nm region is possible. Multiple output ports (taps) enable high-speed line rates for high-speed imaging, and bi-directional readout enables image acquisition in either direction.

PRESS RELEASE
Hamamatsu introduces new TDI cameras
The C10000-601 and C10000-701 series TDI (time delay integration) cameras are useful in a wide range of imaging applications requiring high speed, high sensitivity, and high resolution. Suitable applications include electronics and semiconductor inspection as well as high-speed fluorescence imaging.
These new slim TDI cameras feature back-thinned CCD image sensors with 4096 horizontal pixels and 128 TDI stages (vertical pixels). Each pixel is 12 x 12 µm. Due to their back-thinned structure, the TDI-CCDs feature high sensitivity from 200 nm to 1100 nm with approximately 90% quantum efficiency in the 600-700 nm region. The sensors also feature multiple output ports (taps) to enable high-speed line rates for high-speed imaging. The readout is bidirectional, so image acquisition can be performed in either direction.
There are three cameras available. The C10000-601 features 8 taps, 50 kHz maximum line rate, 800:1 dynamic range, and an 8-bit/12-bit selectable A/D converter. The C10000-701A has 16 taps, 100 kHz maximum line rate, 256:1 dynamic range, and an 8-bit A/D converter. The C10000-701B camera features 16 taps, 100 kHz maximum line rate, 800:1 dynamic range, and a 12-bit A/D converter. All of the cameras include an analog enhancement gain and a digital signal processing (DSP) circuit for performing real-time background subtraction and shading corrections on-camera.
