Photomultiplier tube from Hamamatsu for fluorescence spectrometers
The R11540 28 mm diameter side-on photomultiplier tube (PMT) with enhanced UV sensitivity from Hamamatsu (Bridgewater, NJ) features spectral response from 185 to 760 nm, with sensitivity in the UV region at 40% quantum efficiency at 350 nm. It also features high anode sensitivity, 11.3 × 105 A/W at 350 nm and 12.0 × 105 A/W at 420 nm. Sensitivity and high gain (1.0 × 107 typical) make it ideal for low light detection of UV and visible light in fluorescence spectrometers, as well as a fluorescence detector for HPLC, as a sulfur dioxide monitor, and as a fluorescence immunoassay detector.

Hamamatsu introduces a new PMT with enhanced UV sensitivity
The R11540 is a 28 mm diameter side-on photomultiplier tube (PMT) with enhanced UV sensitivity. Its spectral response ranges from 185 nm to 760 nm, and its sensitivity in the UV region (40% quantum efficiency at 350 nm) is much higher than conventional PMTs. It also features high anode sensitivity, 11.3 x 105 A/W at 350 nm and 12.0 x 105 A/W at 420 nm. The R11540's sensitivity and high gain (1.0 x 107 typical) make it ideal for low light detection of UV and visible light in fluorescence spectrometers. This PMT is also ideal as a fluorescence detector for HPLC, as a sulfur dioxide monitor, fluorescence immuno-assay detector for clinical use, and others.
