Optical components maker Semrock (Rochester, NY) has shipped its one millionth filter, which the company attributes to applying its hard-coated optical filter technology to the biotechnology and optical instrumentation markets. What's more, the company has seen tremendous growth in the past eight years, having introduced three optical filter product platforms for fluorescence instrumentation and microscopy; Raman spectroscopy instrumentation; and laser-based analytical instrumentation.
A high-volume production cell is slated for completion soon, so the company hopes to be able to reach its second-millionth filter shipment in a much shorter time than it took to reach the first million, says Robert Beeson, general manager of Semrock.
