TILL Photonics two-photon fluorescence microscope for live tissue imaging
The IntraVital2Ptwo-photon fluorescence microscope from TILL Photonics (Graefelfing, Germany) provides light collection efficiency for live tissue microscopy in neurobiology and cell biology, among other applications. Using the company's Yanus IV digital scanhead and voice coil-based z focus drive, the microscope scans areas up to 22 mm field diagonal and acquires 3-D images for long-term, in-vivo imaging with reduced phototoxic effects. Additional features include a 25x objective, NA 1.1, < 1 μs pixel dwell time, and digital galvo control.

PRESS RELEASE
TILL Photonics introduces Upright 2-Photon Microscope
Dual-color , 2-Photon Imaging fluorescence microscope, IntraVital2P, acquires the most efficient images of live tissue
TILL Photonics announced today that its new 2-photon fluorescence microscope, IntraVital2P, provides unmatched light collection efficiency for live tissue microscopy. Used mainly in neurobiology, cell biology, biomedicine and pharmacology, the IntraVital2P facilitates imaging at low-light levels and improves SNRs for dynamic measurements deep within highly scattering tissue.
Using TILL’s Yanus IV digital scanhead and voice coil-based z focus drive, the IntraVital2P scans large areas quickly (up to 22mm field diagonal) and acquires exceptional 3D images, allowing long-term, in-vivo imaging with reduced phototoxic effects. This compact, easy-to-use microscope combines excursions of up to 7.5mm with 50nm resolution and a step response time of <10ms, resulting in excellent accuracy. Other performance features include: a 25x objective, NA 1.1, < 1μs pixel dwell time, and digital galvo control.
The Colibri LaserScan open source software provides full control of the setup, the motor and the scanhead, and offers the flexibility of including additional components (e.g., cameras).
Additional benefits of the IntraVital2P include:
- Unparalleled high-resolution 3D scans
- Bidirectional scanning with all speeds
- Non-descanned detection scheme for dual color imaging (with two high-sensitivity GaAsP PMTs of equivalent signal collection efficiency)
- Unlimited access to conduct simultaneous electrophysiology and imaging.
The Two-Photon Upright microscope will be on display for the first time at the Biophysical Annual Meeting March 6th – 8th in Baltimore at Booth 361.
TILL was founded in 1993 as systems provider for fluorescence microscopy. From its very beginning TILL had placed its focus on the development of innovative, enabling technologies for the study of live cells. Setting out with a novel light source for ratio imaging and the first real-time imaging system on the market, TILL developed a novel, award-winning microscope platform concept, which allows integrating an unprecedented number of functionalities into a single instrument. Based on this technology TILL has subsequently become a provider for complete microscope systems, and the new TILL intends to step into these footsteps and plans to extend the platform concept in order to grow into a wide range of markets, both in basic research, screening and medical diagnostics.
