Fiber-optic beam combiner by Coherent
The OBIS Galaxy fiber-optic beam combiner from Coherent (Santa Clara, CA) combines output of up to eight separate lasers (spanning 405â640 nm) into a singlemode fiber. High-precision FC connectors enable replacing of lasers with >85% repeatability in power at the output fiber. Applications include bioinstrumentation, including flow cytometry and confocal microscopy, where multiple wavelengths enable simultaneous and/or tandem use of multiple fluorescent probes and markers. For example, the combiner can be connected to a single-laser input port in a cytometer, thus converting it into eight ports.
