Milpitas, CA--JDSU has acquired Time-Bandwidth Products, a provider of high-powered and ultrafast lasers for the industrial and scientific markets.

Milpitas, CA--JDSU has acquired Time-Bandwidth Products (Zurich, Switzerland), a provider of high-powered and ultrafast lasers for the industrial and scientific markets. It also acquired most of the assets of Trendium (Boulder, CO), a provider of real-time intelligence software for 4G/LTE mobile network operators, which gives JDSU a broad portfolio of LTE solutions.

"For nearly twenty years, Time-Bandwidth Products has been developing ultrafast lasers that provide industrial-level reliability with the performance required for material-processing applications," said Kurt Weingarten, president and CEO of Time-Bandwidth Products. "Combining our expertise in ultrafast lasers for micromachining with JDSU's expertise at vertical integration and high-volume manufacturing will enable JDSU to bring powerful new laser solutions to the market."

The company was founded in 1994 to commercialize new developments in diode-pumped ultrafast laser systems. It is the only authorized spin-off of the Ultrafast Laser Physics group at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH--Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule). Time-Bandwidth Products board member Ursula Keller heads the Ultrafast Laser Physics group.
