• Smart Fibres, Brüel and Kjær enter licensing agreement for fiber-optic acceleration sensors

    Bracknell, England--Smart Fibres has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Brüel and Kjær (Nærum, Denmark) to produce and sell fiber-optic acceleration sensors worldwide.

    Bracknell, England--Smart Fibres has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Brüel and Kjær (Nærum, Denmark) to produce and sell fiber-optic acceleration sensors worldwide.

    Brüel and Kjær has developed a fiber-optic acceleration sensor for vibration measurement that integrates the company's optical fiber sensing technology. SmartAccel-HF is a single-axis fiber Bragg grating acceleration sensor that has use in high-frequency measurement of small vibrations. Additional utilities include condition monitoring of rotating machines such as pumps, turbines, motors, and wheeled vehicles, as well as in an integrated fiber-optic system to monitor subsea pumps for the oil and gas industry.

    Under the terms of the agreement, Smart Fibres will manufacture and sell the product to its customers in the oil and gas industry and other harsh environment industries.
