Exotic EO and LightWorks merge operations to form LightWorks Optical Systems

Murrieta and Tustin, CA--II-VI Incorporated subsidiaries Exotic Electro-Optics and LightWorks Optics have merged operations, forming the new company LightWorks Optical Systems.

Murrieta and Tustin, CA--II-VI Incorporated (Saxonburg, PA) subsidiaries Exotic Electro-Optics (Murrieta, CA) and LightWorks Optics (Tustin, CA) have merged operations, forming the new company LightWorks Optical Systems. The new company is still a subsidiary of II-VI and will provide integrated optical systems (http://www.laserfocusworld.com/articles/print/volume-47/issue-9/features/optical-test-equipment-ensquared-and-encircled-energy-testing-attains-automated-status.html), infrared optics, coatings, and assembliesand will continueto operate from the Murrieta and Tustin, CA facilities.

LightWorks Optical Systems says it combines the award-winning design, engineering, and production capabilities of both former companies. As a supplier of infrared optics, coatings and assemblies, Exotic Electro-Optics’ core manufacturing technologies include crystal growth, optical fabrication, thin-film coating production and complex assemblies. LightWorks Optics provides optical systems and assemblies, with expertise in the engineering design, manufacture, assembly and testing of complete optical solutions. The newly merged company says it can now better meet the complex optical needs of customers in the medical, defense, aerospace, and commercial industries.

"The optical systems created by LWO involve engineering and manufacturing expertise similar to those possessed by EEO, and will extend the range of solutions the combined companies offer to the marketplace. Together we can provide substantial value to our current customers as well as to the growing commercial markets for precision optical assemblies."
